Ultrasound System for Newborns
Zhytomyr City Hospital No. 1.
The neonatal intensive care unit at Zhytomyr City Hospital No. 1 provides care for more than 2,000 newborns every year. The number of patients continues to grow even during wartime, as the hospital receives infants who require immediate medical support from the very first hours of life.
Since 2022, the hospital has operated a post-intensive care and neonatal follow-up unit. Here, newborns who are born with complications or develop medical conditions in their first days of life receive care without the need to be transferred to other medical facilities.
For these patients, timely diagnosis is critical. Most newborns in the intensive care unit are too fragile to be transported even short distances. That is why all diagnostic examinations must be performed directly at the baby’s bedside.
Ultrasound diagnostics plays a key role in this process. It allows doctors to safely and quickly assess the condition of internal organs and detect life-threatening conditions at an early stage.
At present, the unit still uses an ultrasound machine that is more than 20 years old and no longer meets modern medical standards. Due to its limited technical capabilities, doctors are not always able to identify critical conditions in newborns in time. In such cases, the difference is sometimes measured not in days, but in hours.
That is why we are raising funds for a modern ultrasound diagnostic system, Consona N9.
This system will allow doctors to:
perform accurate and timely diagnostics for newborns directly in the unit;
detect critical conditions without transporting the baby;
reduce life-threatening risks and begin treatment as early as possible.
Fundraising goal: UAH 1,955,494.
By supporting this project, you help doctors work with modern diagnostic equipment and give newborns a safer start in life through timely and high-quality medical care from their very first days.
