Mental Health Project for Children and Adolescents at Okhmatdyt Polyclinic

The mental health of children and adolescents is the foundation of their development, education, and future life.

However, today in Ukraine, thousands of children do not receive timely help — not because problems do not exist, but because safe and accessible conditions are lacking.

The goal of this project is to ensure that children and adolescents can receive psychological and psychiatric support without fear, stigma, or months-long waiting times.

Why We Are Launching This Fundraiser

Since the start of the full-scale war, the number of children and adolescents experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and emotional crises has increased dramatically.

At the same time, the child mental health care system remains overloaded and outdated.

Even when specialists are available, the conditions are often not suitable for children:

  • lack of confidentiality;

  • consultations taking place in open or noisy spaces;

  • absence of safe areas where children in crisis can calm down and receive support.

As a result, children are afraid to seek help, and parents postpone treatment — allowing the problem to deepen.

That is why this project was initiated: to create a safe, child- and adolescent-friendly mental health space.

This is not about one-off consultations, but about systemic support tailored to the specific needs of children.

Within the Project:

  • confidential rooms are equipped for individual work with children and adolescents;

  • safe zones are created for children in crisis;

  • a multidisciplinary team works together: child psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers;

  • a clear and supportive care pathway is formed — from the first visit to a stable condition.

What Will Change for Children and Families

  • Safety — children can talk about their condition in a comfortable environment.

  • Trust — support without judgment, fear, or stigma.

  • Accessibility — help without long waiting times.

  • Continuity of care — not a single session, but real support throughout the recovery process.

Funds Raised Will Be Used For:

  • creating a safe and confidential space for children and adolescents;

  • equipping consultation rooms and crisis support areas;

  • launching and ensuring the sustainable operation of the mental health project for children.

Why Your Support Matters Now

Childhood crisis conditions do not go away on their own. Without help, they affect learning, socialization, family relationships, and a child’s future.

Timely support reduces risks and helps children return to a stable and fulfilling life.
