ABOUT NCSH “OHMATDYT”
NCSH “Ohmatdyt” is the largest children's hospital of Ukraine. The history of the institution began in 1894, when the outstanding philanthropist Nikola Tereshchenko donated funds for the construction of the hospital.
HOSPITAL DURING THE WAR
Since the beginning of the war, our hospital has become a hospital for both children and adults. Work in the conditions of martial law does not stop for a minute. Even when active hostilities were taking place on the territory of Kyiv and there was shelling around the hospital. During this time, a lot of patients with injuries that have been received as a result of the war were treated in Ohmatdyt: these includes gunshots, results of mine-explosions, shrapnel injuries, and contusions. The youngest injured patient was 1 month old, the oldest was 83 years old.
Bomb shelters were organized on the territory of Ohmatdyt, where doctors continued to provide medical assistance to children. Psychologists also have worked with patients. In addition to this, to console the children, they were visited by clowns.
In the first days of the war, an emergency medical care department was organized in the new building of the hospital. That's where the wounded went. Our specialists also provided medical assistance to patients with other pathologies, diseases and injuries.
The shortest time from the arrival of the injured person to the hospital, conducting diagnostics, tests, diagnosis, and taking the patient to the operating room was 13 minutes. This is a record result.
Consultative and diagnostic polyclinic of NCSH “Ohmatdyt”conducts field consultations in the de-occupied territories. There, doctors examine children who were under Russian occupation.
Ohmatdyt specialists continue to work selflessly to preserve the lives and health of Ukrainians. Now the hospital has resumed admission of scheduled patients.
